Greening Malaysia – Our Trees, Our Life
UCM Group Mangrove Tree Planting Initiative

The Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change in Malaysia launched the "Greening Malaysia – Our Trees, Our Life" campaign. This ambitious initiative aims to plant 100 million trees across Malaysia over a five-year period from 2021 to 2025. The primary objectives of the campaign are to raise awareness about the significance of preserving forested areas and to reinforce Malaysia's commitment to maintaining its valuable forests.

As part of Unicharm Malaysia (UCM) Group's support for the local government's sustainability campaign, a Mangrove Tree Planting program was organized in collaboration with the committee of Taman Rekreasi Paya Bakau Sijangkang on 24th June 2023. The event took place at the Mangrove Recreational Park located in Sijangkang, Telok Panglima Garang. A team of 30 enthusiastic UCM Group staff volunteers participated in the program, joyfully contributing to the environmental sustainability by planting a total of 50 mangrove species trees on that memorable day.

During the event, the volunteer staff also had the opportunity to join a swamp tour guided by the park's committee members. This educational tour provided valuable insights into the intricacies of the mangrove swamp ecosystem. Overall, the activity left an indelible and precious memory for the UCM Group staff, while also leaving a positive impact on the environment and the local community.
